Walk along Mickleden - 13.11.10

On our final morning before coming home we decided to go for a short walk along Mickleden.  It was mostly overcast but there were some interesting cloud formations.

Fairfield Horseshoe, Lake District - 10.11.10

Today we decided to attempt part of the Fairfield Horseshoe.  We ascended the Kirkstone Road and turned towards the High Sweden Bridge path.  There was an obstruction on the path, however, after some slight scrambling we were able to continue.  The snow from Monday was still there making for some nice photos.

We continued along Low Pike and High Pike.  The snow had frozen and was quite firm to walk on in most places.

A 'ready-made' snowman - the snow was too hard to make a fresh one

Langdale Round, Lake District - 7.11.10

As the weather was also forecast good for today we decided to walk the Langdale Round.  We again set off early (7.30am) towards the head of Great Langdale.

Crinkle Crags, Bowfell and The Langdale Pikes

Blea Tarn was bathed in lovely crisp sunshine and relatively calm: we (along with several other tripods again) took some shots.

During lunch a group of blokes passed by wearing shorts and T shirts!!  It was rather warm, however, I was glad of my woolley hat at times!

Carrying on we passed into Little Langdale and the Cathedral again.

We stopped on Slaters Bridge.  By this point it was getting a little more overcast and cold: a sign of things to come.

We stopped briefly just above the bridge in Elterwater to try some more river shots.

Tarn Hows, Lake District - 6.11.10

Today an early start to Tarn Hows.  The weather purported to be favourable for a couple of days so we thought we'd try to get some good photos at Tarn Hows.  We weren't alone - there were several other tripods taking advantage of the almost mirror-like conditions of the water.

The Langdale Pikes

After lunch (at 10.40am!!) we walked through to Coniston village and back again.  A round trip of 4 miles with some opportunity for watery photographs.

We were caught out by a short shower later on whilst listening to a farmer gathering in his sheep on the fell-side.
