Hollingworth Lake

A traipse around Hollingworth Lake and the moors.

Hollingworth lake route
Quite grey and dismal. The tracks around windy hill getting more rutted and impassable every time we visit, mostly due to the dirt bikers (whizzing about while we were there).

Hollingworth Lake

Slogging around Hollingworth Lake under the blazing sunshine.

Very hazy and bright. Police helicopter and cars around the reservoirs, don't know what they were after. Definitely not the odd fella who was very insistent they weren't after him!

Hollingworth Lake

A frosty walk from Hollingworth Lake. Barely a cloud in the sky so very bright.

A lot more people around than usual. Probably New Years Resolutions to get more exercise!

Hollingworth Lake

Hollingsworth Lake on a Wednesday. Would the motorways be clear this time?

No major delays, quite muddy after a lot of rain but very quiet on a weekday and the weather stayed fine.

Hollingworth Lake

Trying the new Hollingworth lake route again, now we know the way. No massive traffic jam on the way in this time, so the travel time isn't too bad (mostly motorway, so if you're early it's quite quick).

Very misty day, so no photos.

Hollingworth Lake

An entirely new walk starting at Hollingworth Lake, near Rochdale. Got stuck in a traffic jam on the M62 first thing in the morning, but other than that a good day out.

The route goes under then over the M62 and along the Pennine Way. Views can be a bit bleak out on the moors but the bridges are interesting to look at.
