Lingmoor

Another walk to Lingmoor, but going a way we've never been before, to the disused quarry on the side. This gives excellent views of Chapel Stile from high up but without the wall along the spine of Lingmoor getting in the way. Shame the sun didn't stay out long enough to get a good panorama (I had all my kit set up and then the clouds came over) but just managed to get some shots of Chapel Stile and the house.

Then up and over the top to Little Langdale and back round as usual.

Up to Lingmoor Fell to try and get views of Chapel Stile. Unfortunately the cloud was heavy, grey and low so no real improvement on last time. Very windy up on the fell and a good lashing of rain as well. Luckily we had our new pack-a-macs.

Black Crag

Back to a regular, heading south to Black Crag (well, what some people call Black Crag, it's definitely on Black Fell). Another warm, very sunny day. Wind coming in from the south east, giving some very peculiar clouds over the hills. They could be seen being created at one edge, and disappearing at another, so despite all the wind the clouds themselves didn't actually move.

The landscape was covered in bright and dark spots that hardly moved, very frustrating if you're waiting for the sun to come out (or go behind a cloud).

There was a stiff breeze out in the open, but quite warm in the shelter. We saw practically nobody all morning until we finally got to Black Crag, then everyone appeared while we were trying to get our shots. Typical.

Loughrigg

Heading out north east for our first walk, over to Loughrigg, Ambleside and Rydal. Very clear skies, lots of bright sunshine.

Llangollen

Llangollen (and Velvet Hill) on a Bank Holiday Monday. Yes, the camp sites were jam packed.

Very bright sun and quite hot all day. Luckily there were some puffy, white clouds to make the skies more interesting.

Hot, tired feet

Moel Arthur

Moel Arthur to Pennycloddiau and back. This time in the dry so the return track was passable and not a quagmire like last time. Very cloudy to begin with but brightened up a lot on the way back.

The slope on the other side of Moel Arthur is still as steep as ever!

A helicopter was spraying bracken, flying back and forth across the valley, sometimes flying right overhead.
